About Laura
Hi, I’m Laura!
I’m not your typical firearms instructor. I did not grow up around guns. I didn’t start shooting or getting comfortable around firearms until I met my husband. He took me to the range, taught me how to shoot and for many years we went to the range a few times per year recreationally. It wasn’t until many years later, when he encouraged me to get my LTC, that I realized I needed training. Actual training. If I was going to carry, I had better do better.
So, I got my LTC, and then I started my training. I found an amazing female instructor & took her beginner class, like I had never touched a handgun before. I took a concealed carry class to teach me how to properly, SAFELY, conceal and carry my firearm, and I haven’t looked back. I have taken every opportunity to train, get certifications, and learn as much as I possibly can. After a couple of years, I was hooked and wanted to teach other people to be confident, empowered and enjoy themselves, while training and learning to defend themselves.
I have taken every opportunity to train, get certifications, and learn as much as I possibly can. I have firearms Instructor training, both on and off the range! I am certified by the NRA, and by the state of Texas and US Law Shield to teach the legal, technical, and live fire aspects of TX concealed carry. I have worked along-side my mentor and dear friend for the past few years, and have started Steel Daisy Defense to continue my passion for teaching others. I am also a volunteer Instructor Leader with Armed Women of America
Note: If you’re looking for a tactical-style drill sergeant, I’m not your girl. I will come along side you to meet you where you are. We will tailor your class to your needs and go at a pace you are comfortable with. My goal is to teach you the fundamentals, while emphasizing safety, and then progressing to empower you behind the firearm, and teach you how to carry and to safely, effectively, and legally defend yourself and your loved ones.

Laura has multiple Instructor Certifications, Including through the NRA, Armed Women of America, The Complete Combatant, Citizen’s Safety Academy, US Law Shield and as a Certified Texas LTC Instructor. She also has multiple medical certifications, including Stop the BleedR.
